School Districts warned of email threat

Yesterday afternoon, Lytle ISD and all the districts of Region 20 were made aware of a threat being made toward a San Antonio area school. The threat was not made to any specific school, but did suggest possible violence being committed on or about April 24th.

While this may well be a hoax, we have to treat the threat seriously.

The San Antonio Police Department and state and federal law enforcement agencies met yesterday to discuss a collaborative and coordinated approach. San Antonio's Regional Intelligence Center (SARIC) and the FBI are evaluating the validity of the threat and tracing its source.

In the interim, security is being heightened by all area agencies. The Lytle Police Department is aware of the threat and will increase their presence near our schools.

The safety of your children is our priority and therefore we ask staff, students, parents, and others to remain vigilant during this time. All information will be shared with parents and staff as it becomes available.

We ask that anyone with information about this situation or anything suspicious in nature be directed to 210-225-TIPS (8477).
